Apple's New Sweatproof Earbuds Are Designed for Runners

Apple and Beats just officially announced the Powerbeats Pro, which are essentially the sweatproof AirPod alternatives we’ve always wanted. They cost $250 and you’ll be able to preorder them soon.

Like the second-generation AirPods, the Powerbeats Pro are true wireless earbuds that are powered by Apple’s new H1 chip. They can fast pair to your iOS devices and they support hands-free “Hey Siri.” They also promise to deliver nine hours of battery life between charges and more than 24 hours (total) with the charging case, which is better than what the AirPods can do.

At $250, the Powerbeats Pro are more expensive than AirPods. The charging case is also significantly larger, too, and doesn’t support Qi-wireless charging; you’ll need to use your iPhone’s Lightning cable to charge. The charging case does have a similar magnetic closure that AirPod lovers adore. In terms of fit, if you like the Powerbeats3 Wireless, these are basically the same-style earbuds but completely wireless.

The Powerbeats Pro will come in four colors: black, white, dark green and navy. You can’t preorder them now, but Apple and Beats say that will change soon. They will be available everywhere at the beginning of May.
